Jean Tan is a singer-songwriter BASED in Singapore. HER MUSIC IS A BLEND OF folk, VOCAL JAZZ, INDIE, AND a SPRINKLING OF poetry.
Jean has performed at the Southeast Asian Games 2015, Singapore Night Festival, Esplanade’s All Things New and Come Together festivals, and Zandari Festa in Seoul, Korea.
Her last 'Hideaway' EP (2017) was produced by Kevin Foo and et aliae, and features songs like 'Hide Away', the music video of which featured in MTV Asia’s Rotation List, as well as ‘Crowns’ which surpassed 100,000 plays within the first two months of release. Other songs ‘6.55pm’ and ‘Waiting for Love’ were also featured in the Korean drama mini-series Barefoot Diva and Le Jour.
Having been born with a cleft palate and lip and later diagnosed with kidney disease at 24, Jean often weaves her experiences into her music. Her life has been featured in The Straits Times, Esquire, and Buro, and she has performed at schools, teenage homes, and for organisations such as Halogen Foundation, World Vision, Relief Singapore, Operation Smile, and Architects of Life. Jean shares primarily to build community and connection with people across diverse settings, and many have been inspired by her life.
